Fireside Chat: Basha, Queen of the Lenape
Friday, January 24, 2020
Stories abound on how the Bashakill Wetland obtained its name, including the story of the sachem queen who drowned here. But this story has been debunked as myth, or has it? Find out what Gary has discovered in his research about this great leader.
This is part two in a series of discussions given by local forester, naturalist, historian, and archaeologist, Gary Keeton. All discussions begin at 6pm at the Mamakating Environmental Education & Interpretive Center, 762 South Rd, Wurtsboro. Registration appreciated but walk-ins welcome; space is limited. Please call 845-644-5014. Light refreshments available with donation. These are lectures, therefore, may not be suitable for young children.
