Cultural & Recreational Opportunities Expand with Help from County Monies
Round 2 of Plans & Progress Program Awards
More Than $38,000 to 8 Projects Countywide
Monticello, NY – A total of $38,864 has been awarded to eight organizations across Sullivan County for a variety of projects involving recreation, historic preservation, and the arts. This money will leverage over $80,000 in total project costs.
This is on top of more than $61,000 in awards from the Plans & Progress Program’s first round in May, meaning the $100,000 allocated for 2018 has been completely subscribed, and applications will no longer be accepted.
“We received upwards of $200,000 in requests this year, far more than ever before,” noted District 9 Legislator Alan Sorensen, who chairs the Legislature’s Planning Committee. “Having brought this idea forward to my colleagues two years ago, I am thrilled with the success of Plans & Progress, as it demonstrates the need for and value of County investment in community initiatives.”
